Smallholder Farmers in the Age of Data-Driven Agriculture

09 Apr 2018

The spread of mobile technology, combined with remote-sensing data, and distributed computing and storage capabilities are opening up new opportunities to integrate the world’s 570 million smallholder farm households into the broader agri-food system. This change begins with a basic activity: compiling farmer profiles.

Join the webinar to hear the results of a landscape assessment conducted by Grameen Foundation, which encompassed interviews with 50 leaders in the public, private and nonprofit sectors involved in agricultural development. The assessment analyzes how the use of these technologies are changing the way farmer profiles are compiled, stored, analyzed and utilized. The results of these changes will help drive how, and how quickly, agricultural development is able to end poverty and hunger among rural populations.
